In her installation for (OFF)ICIELLE 2014 Paula Doepfner addresses the relationship between neuronal processes and subjective experiences. Neurophilosophical writings as the philosophy of mind by David Chalmer and the passages of Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past (À la recherche du temps perdu) inspire her work. While the theoretical writings explore the “hard problem of consciousness“ and investigate the question how subjective experiences operate, Proust describes internal processes and approaches the complexity through poetry.
