This work, made of ink, paper, and tape, creates a series of entangled threads incorporating phrases, paper fragments, and lost dialogues. Some of them read, “and she said there’s no point” and “she said you’re not listening…” The piece is held together and reinforced with repair tape on which Daou hand wrote hundreds of sentences each describing an act, either physical or emotional or metaphorical, that “he” and “she” were doing. Based on two well-known paintings of the Tower of Babel by Bruegel, this work makes us think about the words that get lost, or perhaps those that remain, in our fragmented dialogues.
