BFF is an over-sized teddy bear made out of fragments of second-hand fur, leather, fabric, plastic bottles and clothes. The artist was interested in portraying the effects of waste and the exploitation in the fashion industry as signifiers of a globalised power structure. The artist sees overconsumption as a symbol of the destructive society we live in, specifically in relation to the use of fur which is used to create these products. Although a teddy bear originally provides comfort for a child, here it helps to create a self-destructive society –a form of misplaced attachment. The artist is fascinated by how ‘we produce clothes we do not need and in this process not only pollute the environment but also harm ourselves’ (Kamerić, in Ćehic, 2020). This sad and decaying teddy bear is an ironic confrontation with the discourses that our society clings onto, despite the irreversible effects that will eventually lead us towards collapse.
