June is Everywhere (self portrait) features a photo installation with hand printed b/w photographs. The first version was available for view at the Sarajevo Film Festival as part of the installation SHIFT. This installation consists of hundreds of hand-printed black and white pictures, depicting a wall with bullet holes. It is the outside wall of the artist’s bedroom, exactly where her head rests while she is sleeping. The interrogative air of this piece is granted by the red shining bulb in the middle that illuminates the rest of the room red. This work alludes to the artist’s experience of violence during the Bosnian war which has left an irreversible mark on her psyche due to the death of her father and the countless cases of missing persons that were left uncovered. The repetitive act of the black and white photography reflects on the artist’s struggle for self understating and the desire to portray a place of both violence and refuge.
