Ulf Aminde presented his work Klage (Lamentation) at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, as part of the exhibition Forgive Us Our Trespasses / Vergib uns unsere Schuld, on September, 2024. Aminde designed 16 flags that redefine the area in front of the HKW as a space of remembrance. They commemorate people from various communities in Germany who have been victims of right-wing violence since 1990. The selection of names is based on the work of experts, journalists, activists and solidarity initiatives who demand justice for the bereaved and strive to ensure that the names are not forgotten. As a participatory project, Klage is part of a process that does not present a static memorial, but demands continuous reflection.
