For her site-specific work at Frieze New York, the Canadian-born artist chose “shade cloth”, a plasticated fine mesh used to provide protection and ventilation for growing crops of various types in Africa and elsewhere, and created a work suggestive of human beings’ relationship with nature, of land ownership and food production, of colonialism and its barriers and illusions, and more…”
