“From 15th April to 7th June, Kiwanga’s work appears in her first UK solo exhibition at South London Gallery. Her installation is a research into the legacy of 1905-1907 Maji Maji uprisings against German colonial rule in German East Africa. Short audio vignettes, Tanzanian castor oil plants, old newspapers and archival videos guide the visitors across the show.
